Contact information and history of our school

The Language House is one of the oldest private language-learning establishments in Prague. Given the growing regional and global demand for qualified, well-trained teachers in recent years, The Language House has expanded to teach and administer TEFL training programs.

The owner, Jaromír Jezek, founded the school in 1992. When it first opened, the school had a meager twelve students. However, this was not a problem, for the only teacher at the time was Jaromír. By the year 2000, mostly through word of mouth, this number had increased by almost forty fold. Today, the school employs over 35 full-time teachers and has a student base of almost a thousand. English is the primary language taught, but the school also offers German, Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese, Hebrew, and is one of the few schools in the city to offer Arabic and Japanese.

Location

The Language House is situated in the center of the city with Wenceslas Square a mere five-minute walk away. Since there is a metro and a tram stop less than two hundred meters from the school it is very accessible, no matter which part of the city you're coming from.

The School Year

The school year is broken down into two semesters and summer program. The first semester begins in the middle of September and lasts until the middle of February. The second semester proceeds immediately after and lasts until the end of June. If a strong work ethic beats out the travel bug, one can stay and teach through the summer in a variety of courses that we offer.
The TEFL course runs monthly except in December, when the schools is closed for the holiday season.

Teaching Faculty

At any given time, the school employs around 35 full-time teachers. Since English is by far the largest of our language programs, many of our teachers are native speakers hailing from the United States, Canada, and the U.K. The majority of our teachers have stayed with The Language House for at least two years, and we credit this to the school's friendly, cooperative environment, and excellent students. Of course, since we are always in the business of expanding, we are constantly on the lookout for new teachers and new ideas about teaching.

Clients

To create a standard profile of our clients would be impossible. Our language students range from directors of the most successful companies in Prague, to twelve-year-old school children. Some of them may sign up for a class only knowing a few words of English, while others are on the verge of complete fluency. As with our teachers, many of our students are repeat clients and have been with us for years. Some of The Language House's most prestigious clients include Zentiva and Ceska Sporitelna.
