Language House Prague Reviews

Please feel free to contact (scroll to bottom of page) any of our numerous graduates to get a feel for what the course and teaching abroad is really like. You will clearly see that we offer more graduate contact than most courses worldwide, so it’s wise to take advantage of it. In today’s social networking environment any testimonial should be backed up by an email or Facebook profile. Without either of these things, how do you know that you are hearing comments from a real graduate? We have many online forums on Facebook where you can connect with hundreds of our graduates in an open and honest discussion, all of whom you can verify on Facebook. Before committing to any TEFL course, you need to make sure that your future school is legit and that they do what in fact is promised. Also, it’s a great way to check out our community of graduates. If you are interested in chatting with real graduates in real time, contact us and we’ll add you to our groups.

None of the students below are paid anything or given any kind of incentive or pressure to say positive things. All emails listed are provided with the consent of the graduate and formatted so they won’t receive any spam. You can trust with The Language House TEFL that their comments are genuine and they are in fact real graduates of the course. The @ sign has been removed from their emails so just make sure to put it in with anyone that you plan on contacting. We update these about every six months so contact us if you want a list of more recent grads.

I had a truly wonderful experience at the Language House. It was a great way to meet people and feel comfortable in a foreign country within a day or so of arriving. I had an excellent instructor (Chris Westergaard), and I felt like I was really made to understand the processes, methodology and the material before I was just thrown into a job. The Language House provided me with wonderful friendships that have continued on past my year in Prague and into my next year in Asia.

I worked for Threshold in Prague as well as for the Language House in 2008-2009. I especially loved my courses with the Language House, as I felt in complete control of my classes in a very relaxed environment and less of the BS that I got from my other school. Though I enjoyed my classes with both schools. This last year I have been teaching children in Taipei, Taiwan. It has been a different experience as teaching kids is much different than teaching adults, but I have been extremely thankful for my training from the Language House as I feel it has really given me an advantage over other English teachers.

Next year, I will move to Dublin, Ireland to get my Masters’ in International Peace Studies. I am actually still hoping to be able to teach some private lessons if I can find any foreigners who are looking for a teacher. I think my experiences with TEFL have really helped me gain a lot of perspective, see the world and meet some of the most wonderful and interesting people. I think it will really help me in my future career and future traveling endeavors. I have continued to highly recommend the Language House to anyone I know who is looking to live abroad. It was a perfect experience for me in a perfect city that is well worth spending at least one year of your life in!

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the TEFL experience, it was great fun, really enjoyable and the teaching was excellent I thought. We received all the vital training we needed and were worked hard which was a real plus point as it was great preparation. We also received really valuable hands on teaching practice which helped me a great deal in building confidence and preparing for life as a teacher. All in all I would definitely recommend the language house to anyone wanting to do TEFl as i feel the experience was really relevant and useful from start to finish.

I had a wonderful time at The Language House. I found the instructors to all be incredibly knowledgeable, and so helpful! I didn’t know a thing about English grammar before I took the course, and afterward I felt completely competent in that area. The Language House is also one big family which was really nice. I felt like I made life long friends from the get go.

I taught some freelance English courses, I worked for a small school called Barevny and I worked for Berlitz.

I had been teaching for 5 years before i took the TEFL course at TLH but i had no idea what teaching was really like.

The course was demanding and challenging but very rewarding in the end. the methodology was excellent, Indigo is an awesome director/trainer, and the place…well…it’s Prague. i had a very good time and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

Since graduating from the course i have been working for the largest and most successful language school in san diego and i am now teaching english at USD, a private university in san diego.

I remember way back in 2007 sitting in front of a computer in South Carolina wondering how I could make the reality of living in Prague come true. So, I did what a lot of people do – I searched for the best TEFL school I could find. I weighed the options, read all the pages and links of all the schools and then… I chose – The Language House. Why? What made me choose that school over the rest? To be honest, it was the quick responses, sincere discussions and open communication with Chris Westergaard. After speaking on the phone a few times, my mind was set on the school, and I never, ever regretted the decision to get my TEFL certification there. Now, this was a long time ago and things have certainly changed with the program – but, for the better. I had the pleasure to work at TLH for several years upon completion of the program, both as an observer and conducting workshops and I’ve seen well over 200 graduates go on to teach around the Czech Republic and the world! I’m still living in Prague, as of 2011, and plan to remain at least another year. I’m working at Charles University as an English Lecturer and also conducting private lessons, too. But, my dream is to see the world so I will let this TEFL certificate carry me away to Asia next year and then… who knows?! If you are looking for a school that is more than just textbooks and lectures, a program that can offer networking, support and guidance, and a TEFL certificate recognized worldwide, then look no further. You will definitely have the option to hang around Europe or to teach in tropical lands, too. It’s 4 weeks. It’s crazy intense. But, you will walk away knowing how to teach and will know and understand what the 3rd conditional means. I’m proud to be a Language House graduate and a part of the family forever

My experience with The Language House was fantastic! The instructors really like and understand the TEFL lifestyle. This intense program is a little daunting at first, but you just work through the craziness surrounded by people who really want to help you succeed.

I will be working for Shane English Schools (through Saxoncourt recruiting) in Taiwan. I leave for this post in October for a year long contract.

The Language House prepared me for teaching English in Prague perfectly – the course was well structured and the large amount of practice teaching time with real students helped immensely. Who could feel nervous doing a demo lesson at an interview when you’ve just spent the last four weeks doing one every day?

The teaching skills learnt are also extremely transferable – I now work teaching children in Asia and the same methodology has served me well (despite the very different teaching style!) I have had numerous interviews in three different countries since gaining with my TEFL Certificate and am happy to be able to say that I have been offered every job I’ve gone for. In Prague, schools even commented that graduates from The Language House were their preferred choice for new teachers!

I worked for a year in Prague, then in Phuket (Thailand) and now in Taipei (Taiwan).

The Language school I believe is the best with TEFL Certification at least in Central and Eastern Europe. The staff go out of their way to help you when needed but really push you so that you achieve your max potential. I felt proud graduating from The Language House. It is definitely not an easy TEFL Certification in Prague but certainly the best place to get it done. There is a strict selection process at The Language House and if you are accepted to do the course, you will come out as one of the best teachers in the city.

The Language House was a great experience. While the course is challenging, it prepares new teachers for any and all challenges that new teachers might encounter in the classroom. The staff is very supportive and will answer any questions you might have. The Language House has the best TEFL course in Prague and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in teaching English abroad. Since graduating from the Language House, I have taught in Prague, South Korea, and the United States. If you have any questions about the Language House, contact me and I would be happy to help you out! The Language House is truly a family that you’ll always be a part of and your money is well spent taking the course.

The Language House provided me with excellent skills, resources, training, and actually even helped me find work in Prague. I felt confident to teach English after taking the TEFL class with the Language House and even met alot of interesting people.

I work at Prague College teaching Interactive Media and Sound Production, but I have a lot taught English there. I also teach English at the Prague Post and privately. Prior to this I worked for Threshold Training Associates, teaching English all the time.

I had a great experience at The Language House- the staff was highly involved and I made friends whom I still keep in contact with years later. The course is perfect for those wanting to work in Europe where the students are primarily adults. (Asia is a whole different ball game and experience with children is helpful).

After graduating from The Language House in Prague I worked for one year at various small companies and English Language schools in Prague. I then moved to Phuket, Thailand where I taught children aged 9-16 at government schools. I am currently living in Taipei, Taiwan where I work with young children ages 3-4 at an all English school.

I took The Language House TEFL course in February 2012. TLH is in a great location in the center of Prague. I used the accommodation given by TLH during the course. It was even better than I expected- I had a big flat to myself with all the necessities and weekly cleaning. There were only 6 people on my course so we received a lot of attention from the trainers. We had 7 different observers/teachers/trainers. The course itself included information about lesson planning, teaching methodology, phonetics, and classroom management. The staff presented this information in the most interesting/fun way possible. We then put these new techniques into practice during our teaching training. You teach 12 45-minute lesson and 2 1-hour private lessons to real Czech students. This teaching practice has made me feel confident in teaching English at any level. Job assistance during AND after the course was great. I received help with my CV, cover letter, and interview tips. The best part about TLH is its strong alumni community. Graduates are connected all over the world and it is a great place to get advice about TEFL or just life abroad. I would recommend The Language House Prague to anyone interested in having fun while getting their TEFL certificate.

I went through The Language House’s TEFL course in one of the Summer 2011 sessions. It was easily one of the most challenging programs I’ve ever been a part of, but it was worth every minute. The staff was exceptional and extremely supportive. I don’t have a traditional teaching background (I worked in a corporate auditing job before this), but by the time the course was finished, I felt like I was prepared to teach effectively. Again, it was hard work, but once you make it to the end, you’ll be miles ahead of the other teachers you’ll be competing with for jobs. I ended up having no problems getting a job in the Czech Republic as an English teacher after the course, and have been working successfully at it ever since. I’d highly recommend The Language House if you’re looking at teaching English abroad.
