JOB ASSISTANCE
Aside from giving top quality teacher training, The Language House is also dedicated to helping our graduates find employment in either Prague, the Czech Republic, or worldwide. Job assistance at The Language House involves a variety of components to help you get employed as soon as possible after the course. In general, most of our graduates find employment in the city within a week or two after graduating the course. The reason why we achieve such a fast employment rate is due to our small class sizes, personal contact and simply because we offer almost twice the amount of teaching practice than most other TEFL courses in the region or abroad. The specific features that we offer in the area of job assistance entail:
Country specific information
We have packets of information on pretty much every major teaching destination in the world. These packets include schools in the area, contacts of past graduates working there, living conditions, average salaries and the general teaching environment. The information is public and every TEFL trainee has access to them from the start of the course.
CV preparation
We help write, review and redraft all trainee CV/resumes during the third week of the course. This also includes assisting with cover letters.
Guest speakers
During the course it is common for large TEFL organizations to visit us and give presentations to current course students. The largest TEFL organization we work with is EF – English First – who recruit TEFL certified teachers to teach all over the world.
Mock interviews
During the last week of the course we conduct individual mock interviews with all trainees to simulate what it might be like on your first interview. These interviews take about 15 minutes and cover questions related grammar and methodology.
Student network
The Language House is a closely-knit program and it is common for past graduates to help out new graduates of the course. This can entail anything from sending advice about a country to a new graduate or actually setting up a job interview in a different country.
Letters of recommendation and post course support
This includes writing letters of recommendation, speaking to other course directors over the phone, as well as post course follow ups to see how you are doing.
Open House
If the majority of students on the course are interested in working in Prague, The Language House conducts an open house each month where respected, hiring language schools gather to meet our new graduates and offer information about their school. These open houses are very relaxed and sometimes the majority of students get hired right there.
