Taught in Prague
Hello future Tefelers! My name is Terra Swerdlow and I’m originally from the capital of the United States, Washington D.C. After I graduated from the University of Maryland I started looking for something to do, but not just anything. I wanted an adventure, I wanted a challenge, and I wanted to do something that had purpose. I have always been passionate about traveling, meeting new people and helping others. This is why I decided to take the TEFL course at The Language House in February 2014.
As promised, TLH challenged and pushed me to become someone who can make a difference, a teacher! Even when I was completely exhausted and wasn’t completely sure what I was doing, there was always a mentor by my side to support me to become the best teacher possible. One of my fondest memories during the course was after teaching and I wasn’t too sure how my class went. Then, one of my students came up to me and personally told me that my class was one of the best classes he had, and then thanked me. I remember thinking; this is why I’m here, for the students.
Not only did I land two jobs shortly after the course but also found myself embraced into one of the strongest alum communities that I have ever experienced. Even being one of the newer grads I have experienced so much life since I have been to Prague. From being in the Carnival Parade, taking hip-hop dance classes in the center of Prague, to exploring a city that makes you feel as if you’re living in a real life storybook, I can tell you I am living the dream. Being able to teach English to foreigners, while also having a sense of family, I know I made one of the best decisions in my life by coming to Prague and being apart of The Language House.
